What is KC’s Play & Learn?

KC’s Play and Learn is a drop-in playgroup, hosted by the F.I.N.D. Care department at CVCSN. The program encourages children ages 0-5 to learn through play, all while supporting Fresno County families in preparing them for success in school and beyond. The 90-minute playgroup sessions are open to children and their Family, Friend, and Neighbor Caregivers. Each session provides children with the opportunity to engage in social interactions with other children. Trained facilitators also demonstrate developmentally appropriate practices and activities for caregivers to take home to their care settings.

If you know of any Family, Friend, or Neighbor Caregiver who would like to connect with us, please have them reach out to Erika Salas or Kimberly Olmos at the FIND Care Department.

I am a proud Latina, first-generation, Fresno State graduate, who majored in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on teaching. I have been in the field for about 10 years now, working with children ages 0-12 as an Early Childhood Education Specialist, After School Program Tutor and Caregiver. Fun fact: I LOVE to read (ask about our playgroup’s reading logs)! I look forward to sharing my passion for learning with everyone!

I grew up in a small farm town in Tulare County, I am currently 24 years old, and for the past 7 years I have worked with children as an early child education teacher. As a child I always told myself I would become a Teacher and help children be as creative and expressive as possible. I was extremely timid as a child, so it was very hard for me to say how I felt at times. I’m excited to share my teaching approaches with you guys and maybe help your little ones come out of their shell.
